Garden Grove PD is conducting a survey on what agencies will give an applicant a CJO (Conditional Job Offer) prior to the background being completed or even started.  This pertains more for Lateral Police Officer candidates to aid in expediting the process and/or to hopefully secure the candidate in the process.

     *   Which vendor do you use for agency outer vests? Also what color combinations are your uniforms and vests?

     *   Does your department allow its officers to attend any type of firearms training outside of your department's minimum required firearms training?  This would include advanced rifle, handgun technique training, optic (red dot) training, competition shooting or similar type of firearms training where your department does not conduct the training?

     *   If your personnel are permitted to participate in firearms training outside the department's established firearms training, what restrictions, if any, are in place as far as allowing the use of department owned and issued firearms and ammunition?  Can officers utilize their department issued firearm during training on their own time?

     *   Does your department participate in any type of tuition reimbursement to cover the cost of these external firearms training courses?

     *   What process is in place to vet and approve the external firearms training courses your personnel are requesting to attend?

     *   If your department has a patrol rifle program, what does the patrol rifle certification process consist of?  How many hours is the initial patrol rifle course?  Is there a yearly recertification/ requalification course to remain certified to operate the patrol rifle?  How often are they required to qualify with their rifle?
