SDTMA Per Diem/Meal Reimbursement Amount Survey

Hello,

The SDSO follows the GSA rates.  See below link.  The training must me a POST approved class and out of county unless the class is POST Management or SLI.  There is a letter of agreement regarding these two courses and per diem will be paid if the student attends an "in-county" course.  The deputies get a per-diem check prior to the training course.  In the case of a local POST Management or SLI course, receipts must be provided before reimbursement of food, hotel is paid either directly or given to the student.  I'll have to do some digging to see what is in our P&P.

I'm doing a survey of per diem reimbursement amounts for training.  If you could answer the following questions, I would appreciate it.


1.       Does your department reimburse employees for meal reimbursement while attending training?  Any stipulations, i.e. out of county only?  Only if POST reimbursed?


2.       Do you have a maximum amount per day, per meal, half day?


3.       Is it a department policy, city policy, etc?


4.       Do they get a cash advance, or reimburse afterwards?


5.       Are receipts required?
