Hi everyone,

GTA is considering adding two Crime Analysis courses to our POST offerings, and we would appreciate your input on the TNA. The courses are Geographic Profiling for Crime Analysts (Basic and Advanced). They have been offered in the past in the LA area and were last offered in October 2023. However, there are no presentations scheduled for the coming year, and as we run the basic Crime Analyst course, we are getting requests for more advanced training.

This course would be for both Crime Analysts and Investigators. A brief description of both:
Basic Course: This course introduces students to the theory and methodology of geographic profiling. It covers environmental criminology, behavioral geography, crime pattern theory, routine activity theory, mental maps, criminal hunting methods, serial crimes, and case linkage analysis.

Advanced Course: This course builds on the Basic Geographic Profiling Analysis course. It consists of a series of computer-lab-based exercises that illustrate how to use geographic profiling analysis techniques in the criminal investigation of property crime. The course covers crime inputting, scenario development, investigative strategies, and exposure to mapping software.

Please respond with a YES if you support the need for this course.

Thanks so much everyone!

Mike Gray
