Hi SDTMA,

Since we aren't having meetings, here is GTA's update for ICI courses:

We have rescheduled all of the ICI courses canceled due to COVID-19 and students/training managers have been notified of those new dates and locations. They had priority into the new dates, but we have opened up space into those classes as available.

All of the ICI classes for FY2021 have been posted online, with the exception of ICI Officer Involved Shooting Investigations. Effective January 1, 2021, Miramar will no longer be offering ICI OIS and ICI Narcotics, so we have taken on some of those offerings. The Narcotics dates are posted, but the OIS dates are still pending. It is my understanding that Miramar will still be running OIS through December 2020, so our dates will likely begin once they have finished their contract. We will be offering OIS in Orange County, as we have always done, as well as in San Diego moving forward. We are scheduled to run five classes, so stay tuned for those dates.

As an FYI, with all the various agency needs and COVID-19 restrictions, we've had to limit registrations to some of the courses. What that means for you when you register personnel is that students MAY be put onto a waitlist, even if there is still space in the course. As we review the registrations to ensure we are accommodating all agencies, we will add students into the class and notify the registered student and training manager. This is to ensure we don't end up with only one agency sending their personnel to one class for high demand courses (i.e. Core, Sexual Assault, etc.) and ensure we abide by social distancing restrictions in the various locations. As I am sure you are all aware of, we've had a lot of last minute cancellations, so if you have people you want to send to a course date and you can have them on standby, please let me or our ICI Program Assistant, Justin Creel, know so we can add them last minute. His email is jcreel at govtraining.com<mailto:jcreel at govtraining.com>.

The NEW UPDATE for ICI this year is that ALL of the ICI classes that were converted to tuition a couple years ago, have been added back into the ICI contract for FY2021. The following classes below, which previously required tuition for all agencies regardless of POST affiliation, are now tuition free for POST-Reimbursable agencies only. This has been updated in EDI with POST, as well as on our website. This update currently stands for classes occurring between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. We will add more course dates as funding allows. Below are the following classes that this applies to:

*         ICI Advanced Gang Investigations

* ICI Burglary, Theft & Receiving Stolen Property Investigations

* ICI Gang Foundation Specialty Investigations

*         ICI Identity Theft Investigations

*         ICI Real Estate Investigations

*         ICI Technology in Investigations

Also, the ICI Technology in Investigations has been completely converted to a live virtual platform, so this course can be done remotely. Students will need to be online with instructors and other students during the course dates and times. Students are also required to have their cameras on during the class, for participation, interaction and ensure identity so they can receive POST credit.

We are also in the process of adding two new ICI courses to the lineup for FY2021 - ICI Basic Computer Investigations (5 day foundation specialty course) and ICI Confidential Informant Cultivation and Management (3 day elective course). These should be offered in early 2021 and will be posted shortly.

My apologies for the long email, but if you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know.

Take care and stay safe our there! -Marisa
