Good evening fellow training managers,
In light of the SB978 becoming law on January 1, 2020, I am trying to get to all the TM meetings to discuss the requirements of this new bill.
Essentially this law will require ALL LE agencies to POST their ECO’s to include all handouts and video’s  on their website to be accessible by the public.  (Agencies will have to create a link on their webpage to direct them to their training section which will contain all their training materials.)

POST will need you to review your courses and during the review, if you identify areas where redaction needs to be done, please highlight the entire section to be redacted and email the entire ECO to me.  I will review it per Govt Code 6254 and forward it to the Chief Caporale for final approval.  If the final approval on the redaction is granted, the agency will be notified so what we post on the POST website and what the agency posts on their website are consistent.

Please review your courses and if needed, please provide me with your ECO and redactions by November 15, 2019.  POST will not proactively review a course for redaction purposes.  Any course content not redacted will be posted.

Please use Government Code section 6254 and 6255  to justify redactions on a course.
