COURSE CONTENT: The course goal is to provide investigators with tools and skills to personally complete courtroom quality presentation diagrams for collision and crime scenes. The course addresses the area of diagramming collision and crime scenes using both traditional and electronic LASER measuring methods and devices and importing data into a computer aided diagramming program. The course covers all the different methods for creating a diagram using a computer based diagramming program known as CAD or Computer Aided Diagramming. The students will receive short lectures on how to develop a diagram. During the lecture there will be a demonstration and presentation in the classroom on how to develop a diagram. The students will then develop their own diagrams using the technique(s) just presented. The simple diagramming methods will be built upon to develop more complex diagrams. As the course continues, the complexity of the diagrams will become more challenging. The students will be exposed to simulated collision and crime scenes to diagram so that they can relate the learning experience to real situations in which they could be involved on a day-to-day basis at a collision or crime scene.
