All - I am not sure if you received this course announcement (2 separate classes) or it went through your Records or 290 reg. personnel. DOJ will be auditing all agencies and this is a course put on by them to assist you through the process. There is plenty of room in both classes so feel free to send as many as you need to.

290 is for : This training is intended for detectives, prosecutors, and civilian personnel who need to know the law in these areas in order to register, monitor, and prosecute sex offenders for violations of the registration law.
Auditing is for: This training is intended for persons who enter, update or maintain CSAR records and/or persons who will be responding to the triennial field audits of CSAR records.

Below is the information for the upcoming 290 Legal Training and Audit Training.

The California Attorney General's Office legal team for the California Sex Offender Registry (Deputy Attorneys General Janet Neeley, Kerry Ramos and Brian Segal) will present training on sex offender registration laws and recent cases, including a focus on transients, charging, and penalties. We will also cover Megan's Law community notifications and current use of sex offender risk assessment, treatment and polygraph within the Containment Model in California. A segment of the training will focus on how to testify and prepare witnesses in a 290 trial.

There is no cost for this training.

The California Department of Justice, Sex Offender Registry (SOR) will be providing training to prepare LEA's for the upcoming triennial field audits of records maintained in the California Sex and Arson Registry (CSAR).

This training is designed to equip agencies with the tools and information necessary to ensure their CSAR records are accurate, complete ,up-to-date, and conform to the policies of the California Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

This training is intended for persons who enter, update or maintain CSAR records and/or persons who will be responding to the triennial field audits of CSAR records.

There is no cost for this training.

By registering for this training you will automatically be put on a waitlist hold and your registration will be evaluated by the California (SOR) and you will be notified by email with your confirmation.  All others will remain on the waitlist and be contacted as seating becomes available.
