Subject: Intoximeters Intox EC/IR operator training schedule

Hi All,

The Intoximeters Intox EC/IR operator class for December 12th will change to 0830 in the morning instead of 1230 afternoon as it was originally scheduled.

I am still scheduling classes every second Thursday of the month, alternating morning and afternoon sessions. Please send your requests via e-mail from the training coordinator and not directly from the deputy/officer, that way I'll know that the officer has been cleared to attend before adding the name to the roster. Here are the dates for 2014:

Jan 9th  at 0830
Feb 13th  at 1230
Mar 13th at 0830
Apr 10th at 1230
May 8th  at 0830
Jun 12th at 1230
Jul 10th at 0830
Aug 14th at 1230
Sep 11th at 0830
Oct 9th at 1230
Nov 13th at 0830
Dec 11th at 1230.

The Sheriff's Crime Lab is currently developing the firmware to be installed in the next evidentiary breath test instrument, Intoximeters Intox EC/IR II, that will replace the current instrument. Once we go through the process of validating this new instrument and receive approval on the training by the California Department of Public Health, we will be retraining every operator in the County. The schedule may change for a couple of months as we go through this transition. My plan is to go to each agency at the end and beginning of the shift to grab as many officers as possible and as soon as I get the majority of the officers trained resume the monthly training. The instrument swap is not going to happen until I get at least half of the operators trained in the new instruments. I will be sending updates as we move along in this process and to schedule training dates at each location. I expect this transition to take place in late spring or summer.
