Subject: Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER)
Good afternoon, Sir.
Hopefully you don't mind. I was referred to you by other agencies
because you are the president of the SDTMA. They believed that you would
be a great source to get this FREE Training (what we all in law
enforcement like to see) out to the troops. I thank you for your time
and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the CHP
Border Division Training Unit. Our information follows this message
below.

*************************************
The Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response (LASER) Course is
returning to San Diego. This Active Shooter Course will be held in San
Diego at the Old Caltrans building on Juan St. The course dates are
09/10/13 - 09/11/13 and another on 09/23/13 - 09/24/13. The course is
totaling 16 hours (two 8 hour training days) in duration and students
must attend both training days. This training is critical and essential
to the mission of the Department as outlined under the Office of the
Commissioner's guidelines. This course is also being offered to allied
agencies outside the California Highway free of charge. Space is limited
and we ask that allied agencies send their patrol/first responding
officers to this training (see attached flyer).
The LASER (certified by FEMA) course will cover the history of active
shooter incidents, immediate action deployment concepts, the role of the
first responder, team formations, roles and tactics, transitions from
dynamic to static situations, and room clearing techniques. In
addition, the training will include reality-based, force-on-force
scenarios using non-lethal training ammunition.
Areas must e-mail the Border Division Training Unit (
601Training at chp.ca.gov) the attendees' names, ID numbers, and Areas of
assignment no later than 08/23/13. Also, because role players are
critical for a realistic scenario, if you have any personnel for role
players, please submit their names. This class is limited so please feel
free to respond earlier because outside agencies are invited also.
Confirmed attendees will receive specific information via e-mail
regarding times and required equipment.
For questions regarding this message, please contact Officer Millan
Mateo and/or the Border Division Training Unit by email (
601Training at chp.ca.gov) or at (858) 650-3613.
